Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program
The Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program was created by the Nevada Legislature through Assembly Bill 184 (AB184) during the 82nd legislative session. This program provides financial incentives to help purchase zero emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The goal is to reduce air pollution, improve public health, and support cleaner transportation across Nevada.
On November 19, 2024, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) presented regulation R144-24 to the State Environmental Commission, which approved it. The Legislative Commission later approved the regulation on December 19, 2024. These approvals set the foundational requirements for how the program must operate, as required by state law.
Although the regulations and basic program structure are now in place, the program is still under development. NDEP is working closely with the Nevada Department of Transportation to design the full program and application process. Before the program can launch, Nevada must receive additional guidance from the Federal Highway Administration about how federal Carbon Reduction Program funds — the source of funding for this incentive program — may be used. Once this information is available, NDEP will finalize the program and open applications to the public.
