Esmerald County proposed to conduct a physical reconnaissance of the County's present water uses & existing water rights and develop a strategy to enhance and protect the County's water rights to ensure present and future water demands can be met. This work will result in a Water Rights Management Plan. Esmeralda County completed its project in April 2007.
